Just a small-town girl living and loving life in the city! I have my Associate of Arts degree from Northeast Community College and my Bachelor of Science degree from Wayne State College, both in Criminal Justice-Corrections. I’ve been with the Douglas County Department of Corrections since March of 2011 and currently hold the rank of Corporal. I work with both male and female offenders on a daily basis, working housing units and many other areas of the jail including the lobby and the work release center. I have been certified to work with our administrative confinement/segregation inmates, which are generally our most erratic and dangerous population. My certification and training at DCDC includes Pressure Point Control Tactics, Spontaneous Knife Defense, and Crisis Intervention Training. I have also been a field training officer (FTO) since October 2012 and assist our new hires with becoming the best officers that they can be. On a personal level, I am a domestic violence survivor and know how quickly situations can escalate. I am privileged to be able to help others learn skills and gain confidence in themselves so that in the unfortunate chance that a situation happens, you do not become a victim, but rather a survivor.
